Knowledge from "5 Words" in Practice
Materiality: Utilization of reused materials that are recollected from the pre-existing building. This reduces the need to use virgin concrete/ brick. Also, transmaterials such as mixed glass and concrete blocks are used to allow natural light into the building without compromising the need for load bearing structures.
Reciprocity: The application of a glass corridor welcoming the rugby players from the rugby league club opposite Brook Street connects each other. Thus the League Club releases the rugby players to the Community Centre prior the commencement of a game, while the Community Centre "absorbs" them. And after the game finishes, the Community releases the rugby players back to the League Club, while the League Club "re-absorbs" them. Such relationships create interdependency between the two buildings, thus Reciprocity is achieved.
Infrastructure: The interior and parts of the exterior of the Community Centre is intrinsicly connected by ramps, staircases and elevators. There is no interior where a patron would not find access to exits in further than 20 metres in the plan.
Threshold: The Community Centre allows public access throughout the entire building. Yet whether events that would or would not use the oval or Multipurpose rooms poses great influence to whether the building would be private, semi-private or remain public. Thus the frequency of usage of the building leads to an equilibrium to the public accessibility.
Insertion: The glass corridor appears to be physically inserted through the ground floor of the building. Yet further examination of the plan reveals that it is purely aesthetic, as the interior of the glass corridor does not become apparent through the reception area.

The use of the Contour mapping device that reflects the change of height of the topography. I cross-sectioned the topography in the West-East direction, exaggerated vertically and ended up with using the cross-section as the primary design concept of the steel corrugated roof structure of my Community Centre.
